PROJECT GUGLIELMO MARCONI 2014

The "Marconi Project" involves the realization of three identical statues of Guglielmo Marconi. The work will be carried out by an Italian-Canadian artist, Antonio Caruso.

The statues will be placed in TORONTO (site already identified), BOSTON (site already identified) or NEW YORK (should this option be chosen, the site is still to be identified) and BOLOGNA (site to be identified).

The statues will measure 7.20 meters height, including the squared stand, 6.00 meters per side.

The actual startup of the project, which will last a year, expected by 2014, the 140th Birth Anniversary of Guglielmo Marconi,  has been postponed.

An International Committee, open to all those who share the objectives of the project and who intend to work together to make it happen, coordinated by Hon. Michele Frattallone, President of the Tricolor Italian Committee for Italians worldwide, Inc., Boston, and Galileo's Legacy Foundation, Inc., Boston (Massachusetts), will be providing the preparatory activities (planning; feasibility study; fundraising, estimated at US $ 2,600,000; activities and commitments with the local authorities at the respective sites: promotion and communication activities; startup of works).

The aim of the Marconi Project is to keep alive, in a perpetual and lasting way, the memory of the great Italian personage, whose works have changed for good the life quality of people of all Countries. The realization of the statues is not only a reference to the memory, but it will be combined with the launching of the activities of the Marconi Interactive Center (M.I.C.), a multi-site Center, colocated with the monuments, which will host Representatives of scientific and technological institutions both local and of the rest of the world.

Il “Progetto Marconi” prevede la realizzazione di tre statue identiche di Guglielmo Marconi. L’opera sarà realizzata da un artista italiano con doppia cittadinanza, residente in Canada.

Le statue saranno collocate a Toronto (sito già individuato), a Boston (sito già individuato) oppure a New York (se sarà scelta questa opzione, il sito è ancora da individuare) e a Bologna (sito da individuare).
Le statue misureranno in altezza di m 7,20 incluso il basamento, quadrato, di m 6.00 per lato.

La data di avvio effettivo del progetto, della durata di un anno, previsto per il 2014, centoquarantesimo anniversario della nascita di Guglielmo Marconi, è ancora da stabilire.

Un comitato internazionale, aperto a tutti coloro che condividono gli obiettivi del Progetto e che intendono collaborare per realizzarlo, coordinato dall’On. Michele Frattallone, Presidente del Comitato Tricolore per gli Italiani nel Mondo, Inc., e della Galileo Legacy Foundation, Inc., di Boston, sta provvedendo alle attività preparatorie (pianificazione; studio di fattibilità; reperimento dei fondi, stimati in 2.600.000 USD; impegni con le autorità locali ai siti; promozione e comunicazione; gestione; avvio dei lavori).

L’obiettivo del Progetto Marconi è tenere viva, in modo duraturo, la memoria del grande personaggio Italiano le cui opere hanno profondamente inciso, migliorandola, nella qualità della vita delle persone di tutti i Paesi. La realizzazione delle statue non sarà soltanto un richiamo alla memoria, ma sarà unita all’avvio delle attività del Marconi Interactive Center, un Centro multi-sito, ubicato nei tre luoghi che ospiteranno i monumenti, che ospiterà attive rappresentanze delle istituzioni scientifiche e tecnologiche locali e del resto del mondo.
